Happy Trails to Bob and Betty
They’ve shopped, baked, knitted, cleaned, picked, and now they are packed and ready to hit the trail home. I cannot tell them how much I’ve enjoyed this time. It has come at just the “right time” for me. I’ve loved the busyness of the day, the joy of them meeting our friends, and sharing some “crafts” with Betty. I will be lonely for sure but look forward to the next Camp God may have for me. Thank you both for your prayers and your un-conditional love. I love you.

Campers of the Week
It was impossible to pick just one camper of the week. Both of them worked so hard to do the dishes, keep their room squared away and help Ms. Barbie in general. Each of the received the Camper of the Week award. They are packed and ready to head to Dallas where they will spend the night with Lee’s sister. It has been a great week for me personally to get to know Betty better. She is a real jewel. I wish we lived closer. Bob is the sweetest father in law a girl could ever want. I am so glad we had this time together. It will be a real keepsake in my heart for years to come.

Breaking down camp
All good things must come to an end and so today ends Sr. Adult Camp Barbie. Betty is getting her purse cleaned out from all the receipts she’s purchased. Her suitcase is packed, her room is squared away. They have been star campers.

Our last night of Camp Barbie
I am disappointed in myself for not taking any pictures today. We’ve been so busy “living” the moment, we haven’t “recorded” the moment, ya’ know? Lee had a terrible day today with not feeling well and his air compressor at work went on the blink. He had to cancel all his patients. We can say Thank You Lord that it was able to be repaired and he didn’t have to buy a new one. For supper I prepared a hot chicken salad casserole and green beans. Bob did the dishes for us so Betty and I could make one final run to Hobby Lobby. Lee nonchalantly asked me why I was going to Hobby Lobby and I promptly replied: Because we have a 40% off coupon! We bought Betty some supplies she will need for cookie baking.
I had every intention of taking a group photo tonight but Lee feels terrible, I look terrible and my campers are tired! Bob says he probably has picked up 40 pounds of pecans! Betty has knitted 3 washcloths, made 3 dozen cookies, and made 3 sparkling pumpkins. She has been to Hobby Lobby 3 times, every antique shop in Denison and Sherman, and to McKinney twice. She helped me in AWANA last night and she vacuumed the kitchen today. What great campers I’ve had. I will be so lonely when they leave. My Dr. once said company and fish both smelled after 3 days but not MY company! Tomorrow will be my final post. Again, it has been a great week.

Thursday’s travels
Camp Barbie started a little early for Bob today. He went to Toastmaster’s with Lee and left the house at 5:45 a.m. Fortunately he let Betty sleep in. We were up and dressed when he returned to eat breakfast with us at 7:30. Ms. Barbie had Bible study today and Betty decided to stay home and do “hand-work”. Bob met Lee for Rotary at noon. I came home and took Betty and Aunt Dean to Angela’s in downtown Denison for lunch. We had a nice lunch and then hopped in the car and went to McKinney. We only went to two stores, one being the quilt shop. Betty bought me some “vintage” fabric and is going to make me an apron. I look forward to that. I did not take the camera but trust me, we had a great time. God blessed us with traveling mercies and we made it home safe and sound.

Savy Shoppers
Ms. Barbie’s campers are well aware of her shopping rules: Don’t buy from Hobby Lobby unless you have a coupon! Here the cute campers are ready for their shopping, each with a coupon. We did Not go to Hobby Lobby though. We went to Joanne’s fabrics and everything we bought was already on sale. My philosophy: Coupons make for happy campers and happy campers make for repeat camps!

Bob goes Nuts for nuts
Camper Bob quickly spotted Ms. Barbie’s bumper crop of pecans this year. He got permission to go to Wal-Mart where he purchased some pecan picker-upper’s! He made fast work of beating the squirrels to the pecans. I was so proud of him. He has made a nice haul in just a couple of hours.

You can see his “haul” here

Hump day at Camp Barbie
It’s hard to believe it is Wednesday already. The Campers were treated with a surprise breakfast today at McDonald’s. I found out I am eligible for a Sr. Citizen’s coffee! Oh boy. We had a nice leisurely breakfast before we headed back to Camp. I like this kind of camp personally.

Sitting around the supper table
This title may be mis-leading. It wasn’t MY supper table we sat around but the table at Cotton Patch restaurant where we all enjoyed a delicious meal of grilled pork chops, hot baked potatoes and hot bread. Me, Lee, Betty and Bob laughed and talked through supper. Lee’s grandmother, Bob’s mother, was a delightful little lady who entertained us for years with funny sayings and stories. It was always a running joke that she loved Lee more than his sister. We sat around the table and just reminisced about family memories. It was a great way to end the 2nd night of Camp Barbie.

Camp Photos
All campers love to have pictures to share of their camp experiences so Ms. Barbie made sure she took her camera to McKinney. The town square was beautifully decorated with pumpkins, cornstalks, and all sorts of cute scarecrows. I just had to get a few pictures of my group so they would remember Camp Barbie. We had a great leisurely stroll around the town, as much as Ms. Barbie could walk, anyway. Bob bought our lunch and we enjoyed eating at Spoons Café’. I can report that both campers were on their best behavior and I was proud to be their Camp Director.
