I wonder what are they doing?

Bill Gaither wrote a song entitled: I Wonder What are they doing in Heaven today? That might seem a little melancholy for some of you but I find it intriguing myself. My parents, both sets of grandparents, my mother in law and my grandmother in law and numerous friends are in Heaven today. I can’t help but wonder what are they doing? I think of my Dad picking up pecans or my grandmother crocheting. Lee’s grandmother won’t be reading those Harlequin romances! It is especially at this time of year as I remember how blessed I am to have had Godly parents and then to marry into a Christian family that my thoughts turn to those who are no longer here with me. How I long to hear my Mama Pearl pray in her “King James” language. I hope my Mom is drinking her coffee from a china cup! Do you ever think about what you will do when you get to heaven? The Bible promises no more pain, no more Parkinson’s, no more cancer, and no more diabetes. I can’t wait to see what job God has in store for me. But until then, I better keep on doing what I’m supposed to be doing and that’s making sure others know about Him!

“Carded” at 80

Today my dear friend Gladys turned 80. For lunch several of us went to a new restaurant here in Denison. On the way out there Patty said her daughter told her this place was a Honky-Tonk! I said I had heard at night it was wild but we were safe during the day. When we got there, the first thing they did was to ask for our Driver’s License! They said they were a private club and we needed to be a member. I quickly explained these dear sweet ladies were not here for the alcohol and “spiritual libation” but just to celebrate life! She said, that’s great, but they still needed our Driver’s license and not to worry, the membership was free! Oh dear, what are we about to get into? Below you see Gladys scrambling for her Driver’s License.

For lunch we enjoyed delicious charcoaled hamburgers and barbeque sandwiches. We laughed and laughed and laughed some more. These ladies enjoy life to the max!

The manager gave Gladys a complimentary desert called “Lug Nuts”. We each enjoyed nibbling on it. It was sort of like Bananas Foster without the liquor. The name of the restaurant was Loose Wheels, and the theme is rather “vintage” Harley Davidson. They had several motorcycle bits and pieces scattered throughout the place. I can see that this would be a big attraction for “bikers” and the livelier crowd at night.

Below we had to take a picture of Gladys getting up on the monstrous Vintage Harley. Of course, she had to have a little boost from Evelyn!

I am so thankful for these ladies. I hope to be just like them when I grow up! They are actively involved in our church and minister to so many homebound members. It was a great way to celebrate. Thank you for sharing Gladys with me!
