Junior and George
Junior’s “Mother-Figure” Tessa told me Junior liked to be read to and really liked Curious George books. Well I did better than that. I pulled out my version of George and let him sit in front of the turtle tank. It was amazing how fast Junior swam to him. I think he likes this much better than reading.

Junior has a visitor
I thought Junior could use a visitor today so I invited my friend Erin for a visit and a Camp day. She teaches Sunday school with Junior’s Mom and she also teaches 4th grade at Golden Rule. We had a great day with each other. I know Junior was glad to see someone besides me for a change.

Tate was Great!
Today I had Camp with Tate. I will have her in Sunday school and choir this year so I was excited about getting to know her better. She did a great job with her Praise book. We even sang a few little praise choruses while we worked on her book. I am so glad she likes to scrapbook and sing! She also helped me with Junior, the turtle. Being with Tate was great!

Junior, Day 1
So day one with Junior has been pretty un-eventful. I fed him his “2 penches” at breakfast. He was sitting on his rock when I entered the playroom. He scrambled off and started swimming when he saw me. I put on his “day light” and watched him swim a little. At 2 pm (sorry I was a little late on lunch!) Tate came over for Camp and she fed him. She was also nice to show him the pages in a book. I read a couple of pages to Tate and Junior and then Tate started her Camp session.
Say hello to Junior!
Junior likes to look at the pictures.

Meet Junior, Tessa’s turtle
Tessa and her family have gone on vacation and she asked me to keep Junior, her pet turtle. Little did I know what was involved. The entire family came over Thursday night, carrying gallons of distilled water, Junior in his 20 gallon tank, turtle food and turtle treats. Two lights accompanied Junior, one for day and one for night. Tessa instructed me I was to feed him: “2 penches at brikfest, 2 penches at lunch, and 2 penches at supper.” She said he likes to be read to, and especially likes Curious George books. Hmmm, guess I will need to make a trip to the library.
Me and the Heaton’s. Dad doesn’t look too happy.

One final feed before saying good-bye.

Feathers Flying at Camp Barbie
Today brought returning Campers Lincoln and Andee Beth. I was a little concerned Lincoln might not like the organization crafts but I was wrong! We had such a fun time of “modge podging” our box and clipboards. I had to hot glue the feather boas and also wanted the modge podge to dry quickly so I turned on the fan. Oh my, feathers started flying all over the kitchen. We had fun trying to catch them. It reminded me of the I Love Lucy show. So if you happen to come for a visit, beware of a few feathers!

Cookies for 3 today

What a fun time today with two sisters and their Mom! My neighbor down the driveway Janie, her sister and their Mom all came to Camp today. Janie has been a recipient of my cookies and has been wanting to learn how to ice them. They all three were amazed at how easy it really is. All three ladies love dogs so I made some dog bone shaped cookies especially for them. They even personalized them with the dogs names! It has been so much fun having people in my kitchen this summer. I will certainly miss the activity when school starts.

First Graduate of Camp Barbie 2008

It’s hard to imagine my first Camp Barbie graduate for 2008! Today Kaylee made a cute tote for her markers and pencils. She also made a personalized clipboard for school. Kaylee and I have gotten to know each other really well this summer. I look forward to seeing what God is going to do in this special young girl. It will be fantastic!

Teaching the Younger girls

Mary Beth and Angel are the first “younger” girls to make their Praises A-Z book. I wasn’t exactly sure how well they would catch on. They proved me wrong! The only problem we encountered was spelling. They could think of the words but couldn’t spell them. I can remember when each of these precious girls were born! Now they are old enough to come to Camp Barbie.
